Short tutorial on how to get around the site and use Constructorator tools.
I have been in the construction industry for twenty years where I started as a laborer and moved my way up to Superintendent where I successfully completed projects like City Creek Center managing over 450 people which included my companies self-performed concrete crews and subcontractors over the creeks, cascades, retractable roof and skylight system, pavers and landscape on both blocks. Now as coach for the self-performed crews I manage over 50 General Foreman/Foreman and 0ver 300 leads, carpenters and finishers.
Recognizing the limitations for ongoing training and available technologies/materials in our industry, I knew this was something that would be self-taught. In my career I have been extremely successful in meeting budget and schedule expectations and trying to keep pace with technology. I have worked to help leaders grow and develop their leadership and management skills. I help them to identify, define and simplify their current processes, resulting in improved efficiencies and lower unit cost. You can always find wasted steps in a process; you just have to know what to look for. I have seen first hand the impact good leaders and teacher's have on one's career. This has motivated me to help people set and reach their chosen career path in the construction industry.
I built this website to help share information and knowledge of concrete construction, in hopes to reach field hands creating learn, grow, collaborate and share. I welcome: accomplishments, ideas, suggestions or lessons learned that you want to share. I hope you enjoy and I look forward to any feedback you might have.
My construction career began as a laborer sweeping floors and picking up trash. Right off the bat watching the carpenters build, I new I was hooked. Since my first day on a construction site I have tried to be a sponge for all the experience and knowledge around me, with a passion for learning I quickly became a proficient carpenter and never looked back. I climbed the supervisory ladder at a very young age by making calculated decisions quickly and listening to the experts. I also found out in the very beginning of my career that my love of construction was for concrete.
I have a true passion for creating and implementing construction project planing. I have consistently succeeded in bringing in projects well under budgets and ahead of challenging schedules. I strongly believe in setting up crews for success through open, honest communication and a well thought out plan. I welcome difficult budgets and schedules as a challenge that forces creative solutions for productivity improvements. Interaction is the key to advancement and performance improvement. We have a need industry wide to share more information, that is were the focus of Constructorator lies.
