Day One: Setting Goal and Planning
First, set a goal. Make sure this goal challenging, but not impossible. A goal too simple will not keep your crew motivated. A goal that is out of reach will create frustration and friction on the crew. Reaching a goal will drive them. They’ll strive to reach further. It is imperative that you are prepared for these goals. Make sure all materials, equipment, manpower etc., will be available for you and your crew to meet the goals.
Day Two: Leading
Start off the day out in front leading with direction. Keep the goal on top of their thoughts. Get out there and run with them.
Day Three: Monitoring and Feedback
See how your tracking to achieve the goals then get feedback from the crews to see how you can pick up time. Let them know how they are tracking towards the goal. If they are behind, get feedback on how to pick some time up. If they’re on, track let them know and give them praise.
Day Four: Motivation
Start day four with a positive pep talk. Talk about how close you are to achieving the goal. You have to show some emotion here and get them to feed off it. You are down to two days and we have to make this one count
Day Five: Completion Celebration
Let them know how they did for the week and if they made the goal take them out to lunch or let them go home early. Tell them how good they did, that what they achieved was amazing, and how important it is to the schedule.
