If you're anything like me you often feel like there's not enough time in the day to accomplish everything that needs done. As a supervisor it's not only your time you're managing but the crew's as well. It's extremely important to learn time management, this could mean different thing for different people. Some of us are good at managing our tasks, but not delegation and some of us are great delegators but leave too little time for our administrative duties.
We should all be striving to find that balance of time management. I have found success with having a formal meeting to define responsibilities. Make a list of everything that needs done and start assigning tasks, keeping in mind the teams strengths and weaknesses. This will also help make sure that the workload is evenly distributed so that one person doesn't end up with a larger portion of the work than they can handle. Staying organized, delegation, and having a daily process are a must in our industry. Routine and clearly defined responsibilities are the keys to staying on top of your tasks and allowing sufficient time for looking ahead and pre-planning.
